Sutton returned for another home game buoyed by last weeks win and looking to add to their points tally against fellow strugglers Harleston Magpies 3's. The home team started well and it was not surprise when they took the lead courtesy of a clinical finish from Alex Canham following excellent work from McKenzie East, Josh Baker and Harry Synott. Sutton continued to press as the whole team worked hard yet due to a lack of luck and finishing in front of goal could not add to their lead. Baker worked hard, as did Jacob Synott as the strong Harleston midfield struggled to make an impact. East in particularily was impressive in the first half in what was his best game so far this season. Sadly, as is often in sports matches like this the profligacy in front of goal became telling as Harleston found an equaliser to make it 1-1 at half time. The half time team talk was detailed and whilst not as positive as the previous weeks showed no portends for the half that ensued; Harleston started the better team and it was no surprise when they took the lead as Sutton struggled to get into the match; disaster became catastrophe as a third went in and any signs of a ‘new pitch bounce' were restricted to the ball and not the results. In defence, Sutton continued to push on and got a reward 7 minutes from time when Ed White clinically finished having followed in well from a short corner. It is almost 10 years since those two names appeared as scorers on the same teamsheet! The team pushed on looking for an equaliser but sadly it was not to be and 3-2 was the final score; leaving the gap at the bottom resembling more of a chasm.
