As Dennis blew up a storm on Saturday morning, Sutton were looking at making headlines of their own by winning back to back games for the first time this season. They welcomed high flying Norwich who were as keen as Sutton to see the game played and had clearly decided that travelling in adverse weather conditions was best dealt with by travelling in numbers as 16 Norfolk folk came west along the A47. Sutton made one change with Ellis replacing Batten in a like for like midfield replacement. The game started at a high tempo with Sutton taking the game to Norwich in whar was a good quality match sportingly contested by both teams. Chances came for both teams, however Sutton had the majority of the game and the better of the chance as Baker, Canham, Taylor and Collingwood-Smith all had chances on another day they would have converted. Credit must be given to the Norwich keeper though. It began to look like it would be scoreless at half time and then after some good build up play, Jacob Synott scored a deflected goal to give Sutton the lead. 1-0 at half time. Captain Fox gave his usual encouraging team talk and the second half began with Sutton once again on the front foot. Jacob Synott, White, East, Collingwood-Smith, Taylor and Ellis linking well in midfield and Baker and Canham running tirelessly up front were all good but the defence of Fox, Baguley, MOTM Burton, keeper Whitmore and Harry Synott were excellent in earning their first clean sheet of the season. Synott playing has last game for a while as he heads off to travel the world before conquering it, was as solid and assured as he had been in all of his previous games; the team wishes him well and will certainly miss him. The game carried on with Sutton having the majority of it and it was well deserved when Baker finished well to give the home team a cushion 5 minutes from the end; he even managed to get a card on this valentines weekend to complete his day! A good win as the team finds its form from last year and hopefully will continue to see out the season with pride and fight.
