Long Sutton men's 1st looked to add their second win of the season and give a show to the home crowd. A similar squad minus Dan Plant injured through a game of headers and volleys hockey edition.

A lack lustre warm up and umpires keen to start we were underway. Thankfully the team started the brightest they have all season. Quick strings of passes found themselves in and around the young Cambridge sides D. Easts 20 minutes of looking dangerous graced us in the first 20 minutes and provided forays in and around the baseline. Will Taylor, sargeant gray and Ibrahim all joint up well and got their rewards with a succession of well saved shots as well as short corners. It would be the second of which that Josh fyson would open the scoring inside 10 minutes. 1 would become 2 10 minutes later. Will Taylor's "dummy" shot and pass across found a well marked Ellis who still tap the ball past the keeper. The scores would no change going into half time as the Cambridge would apply the pressure of which the back line of Cliff in goal and Oldfield, Donaghy, fyson and proctor in defence absoarbed said pressure well with able assistance from the midfield.

Half time 2-0 Sutton.

Determined to put the game to bed the men in green started brightly in the second half and continued to not be troubled for any serious period of time with only 2 shorts and 2 (back-stick) shots to talk about in the entirety of the second half. Quick passing, fast transfers soon found space for the wings. A quick ball down the line found Will Taylor who beating 2 defender simply pushed the ball past the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner of the goal 10 minutes into the second half. The next 10 minutes can only be described as an attacking master class. You may think wed score in said attacking master class. Did we? No! Sloppy passing punished the city defence and selfless passes and attacking runs across the baseline lead to easy chances to score. Easy tap ins plenty of time on shots all went a miss. Most noteable. Being a sergeant reverse more likely to worry nesting birds rather than the Cambridge keeper. No more than 20 chances missed later nick Ellis would finally add his second picking a ball up on the base line and beating the keeper through the legs and bottom corner. A further 10 minutes of one way traffic would entail shots came to no avail and the scores would not change.
