Long suttons mens 1st pipped by a resolute city of Peterborough 4ths

Long Sutton men's 1st team came out second best against a determined home Peterborough side. An early push back saw an excited returning Jimmy Harrison exploring the facilities before 9 am. Boasting a strong 13 with Ibrahim and before mentioned Harrison returning to the previous weeks 11.

A strong warm up but the team still knew they would need to up it another gear or two if they were going to get anything from the fixture against an older side who have certainly played their fair share of high level hockey in the past.

A frankly poor opening 10 minutes left it all for Sutton to do conceding 2 goals in quick succession. Shell shocked but not deterred the men in green struggled but finally found their feet and strung some dangerous looking plays together to which watt would be the man to tap in a well worked team goal just before half time.

Another frank yet honest team talk and the side came out fighting looking to come back into the game. With play in their favour and almost entirely in the Peterborough half Sutton continued to forces question on the home teams defence. Shorts came to no aveil and chances just missed that final touch. This was to be tail of the second half as Sutton continued to struggle to break down a steadfast experienced defence. Tempers would frail 10 minutes from time with gray and fyson seeing green and yellow.

The time would wind down and long Sutton would fall just short of the mark. Far from their best the men in green were honest in the post match talk on final product and playing what they have in front of them and not what or where they are on paper. They not look to right the wrongs in training on Tuesday and take it to Ely at home on Saturday.
