The first team travelled to March this week in a massive battle at the top of the table. The side were fresh off the back of a big win the week prior and were ready to take it to the side placed second in the league. The game started quickly and after a first long ball over the top from Fyson, Sutton win the first short of the day within the first two minutes. The game was certainly a tough one with strong challenges and good battles. March were the first to get on the scoresheet however as they went 1-0 up through a well finished slap towards the bottom corner.

Sutton weren't to be put down and came back at them. Their equaliser came from one of the best team goals of the season. A ball played down the line from Gray found Baker who with a clever pass found Sargeant making a great baseline lead. He then quickly squared to Watt at the top of the D who set up Plant for a tidy deflected finish. 1-1! The first half came to a close all square with March being kept quiet by the strong defence of Harrison, Fyson, Donaghy and Proctor with Cliff between the sticks.

The second half started with the intensity dial turned up! More heated discussions and Turkey chests were to be witnessed as well as some early Christmas card exchanging! Sargeant was to have a little sit down for his escapades as well as another of the March players! It was Sutton to score the third goal of the game. A long ball found Baker just outside the D who was able to work a well timed finish on the backhand to finally find a way past the strong March goalkeeper. March came back hard once more however and we're able to snatch an equaliser! The game was evenly poised with 15 to go. The green midfield kept working tirelessly to produce the goods. Gray, East, Watt & Taylor were all putting in a shift to find the winner. The winner would come in a way unexpected of both sides. The opposition left back playing a slow ball across the back line was easily picked off by Baker who rounded both the defender and goalkeeper to calmly finish into an open net! 10 to go, 3-2 to the travelling side!

The green army battled it out for the remaining minutes making sure any loose ball was appropriately sent as far away from Cliff's goal as possible. The final whistle sounded and Sutton were victorious. A massive 3 points!

A massive shout out to our travelling fans too! Pete Worth, Bob, Charlene & Jeff Harrison, Oliver Taylor's girlfriend and her mother, Kat, Sonny and the Plant clan! The support was hugely appreciated! We were unfortunate however not to be blessed with the presence of superfan Charlie Fyson this week. His flares and pyros were safely tucked up with him under his duvet this week!

POTM was Harrison who worked tirelessly across the midfield and back line to keep March at bat as well as providing an experienced, calm head in the final minutes to keep a tight grasp on the 3 points for Sutton!
