Long Sutton slipped to defeat following a game with some defensive lapses and wasteful finishing, Sutton opened the game brightly and had the majority of the possession for the first period of the game without creating many clear cut chances. As the game progressed the visitors forced their way into the game and opened the scoring as the home side failed to clear the ball, they quickly doubled their lead as a visiting forward reacted quickest at a corner to turn the ball in after keeper Matt Braginton had made the initial save. The hosts then recovered their composure and finished the half strongly and probably should have pulled a goal back after creating some decent chances. The second half opened with Bourne Deeping quickly adding a third goal as Sutton failed to clear their lines again and allowed the visitors to score on the counter attack. Sutton then had the majority of the play for the remainder of the game as they tried to get a foothold in the game but were denied by some good saves from the visiting keeper and some wasteful finishing. Sam Gray and Adam Taylor tackled well for the hosts and Dan Oldfield enjoyed a solid game playing in the midfield. The hosts did pull a goal back when Nick Ellis converted a short corner but despite a number of other corners and some good attempts from open play they were unable to add to their tally. Sutton must learn to convert the long spells of good play onto the scoresheet whilst trying to eradicate the lapses that are costing them dear at the moment. Man of the match was Matt Goodley who produced a quality performance following on from his representative honours in the previous week.
