Long Sutton achieved a comfortable home win after another strong second half showing. With a strong squad Sutton were looking for a good show against the basement team, the first period however did not go to plan as the visitors used their strength to disrupt the hosts passing game. The home team did however still have too much quality up front and were able to take the lead through Will White, Josh Baker added a second with a shot from a tight angle. Sam Markillie battled hard midfield and Simon Clarke was preparing for his fireworks party later in the evening with a few random explosions!. Baker made it three following a good move down the right but Peterborough were allowed to pull a goal back before the break as the home discipline was tested. The break came at the right time for Sutton as they were able to discuss getting back to the more controlled passing and teamwork of previous matches. The second period showed instant improvement with increased ball speed and good play in midfield with Tyler Hagan and Jacob Synnott again impressing. Sutton played on the front foot and added to the scoreline with Gary Hales grabbing a hat trick with two great finishes from excellent Baker crosses plus a sharp finish following a switch at a corner. Adam and Will Taylor worked hard on the flanks, the senior Taylor doing his best to avoid any slip ups!. Sutton kept the ball for longer spells with Markillie influential as always, Tom Burton enjoyed a solid return after a few weeks absence and Josh Ripley was assured at left back. The scoring was completed when Ben Smith made his way from defence to smash home a corner in the last few minutes. Will White was man of the match with another solid performance in midfield showing skills on the ball and a good passing range. Sutton face a test this week visiting high scoring Cambs City which will provide an indication of whether they can get themselves near the top of the table.
