Long Sutton 3rds 3 Louth 2nds 0 Sutton thirds escaped this fixture with three points and a clean sheet, but were fortunate to do so as a bit of momentary indiscipline meant they played much of the match with only ten players on the pitch. With the pitch under a layer of snow only two hours before the scheduled start, it was a minor miracle that a match was possible at all; captain Adam Sisson and a legion of club volunteers cleared the ground and the day's fixtures went on unimpeded. The home side's youngsters began in dynamic fashion, with Jack Smith carving out an excellent opening goal. William Taylor revelled in a central role and after a one-two with his aging midfield colleague, Ian White slipped the ball under the advancing keeper to increase the advantage. There Sutton's progress stalled, the industry of Harry Braginton and James Collingwood-Smith didn't net as much end product as in recent games, and Louth came into the game when Sutton's sweeper took a lengthy yellow card. Taylor put the seal on the deserved victory though, when White returned the earlier favour, finding him in the D, form where Taylor lashed an unstoppable shot into the far corner.
