Suttons entered their first away game of the season in good spirits after last week's win. the game started in an even match with Alford looking the most likely to score in the first five minutes after losing jack smith to injury 2 minutes in . Sutton soon settled and with brilliant team work they got the first short corner of the game which Ian White shelled into the back board to give Sutton the lead. This didn't stop Sutton and were soon back in Alfords half and awarded another short corner which Matt king also put past the keeper. After being two goals in a short period of time Sutton played out the half with brilliant defensive work from Munson, Smith and Jack and Keeper Matt braginton ensuring the score line remained as it was. Half ended 2-0 With a swift team talk Sutton started the second half more relaxed and gelled into playing excellent pass and move hockey and were unfortunate not to increase the lead from White, Charlie, Hagan, Pack or Proctor. The Sutton defence again dissolved a vast majority of Alford attack and potm Matt Braginton pulling together strings of saves whenever he was called upon to ensure a clean sheet. as the half reached midway Suttons attacks increased and Alford were getting less and less possession on the ball as the ball was played in their half. More short corners came and Sutton were unfortunate not to act on them like they had in the first half. Suttons luck did come with an excellent team goal with a pass from harry braginton to Proctor and in the D passed to pack who passed back to Proctor who then crossed the ball to the wide man Hagan who then slotted the ball home at the far post with some of the best attacking play displayed this season. As the game ended Sutton still looked to score more and were still unfortunate in not increasing the goal tally and in the last two minutes loosing harry braginton to injury all attacks halted and Sutton saw the dying moments of the game out knowing they'd done enough for both 3 points and a clean sheet. By far the best game the thirds have played in the new season with brilliant team work and dedication from every single player on the pitch, everyone supported each other whether it was attacking or defending. it is brilliant to see this year is the players the thirds have are willing to play for anyone and everyone that the thirds field and can do so effectively to get the results they want and most importantly deserve. special mention must go to Adam Sisson for constant sideline support and sub rolling throughout the game. player of the match this week could have gone to anybody but after waiting a year and a half for a clean sheet it has to go to Matt Braginton who most definitely had to work for it stringing 3 or 4 saves together at a time to ensure it for himself and the rest of his teammates.
