Sutton entered this local derby with the disappointments of last week still lingering and looked to eradicate them quickly and that's exactly what they did. With Jeremy Smith unavailable this week it was son Jack Smith that stepped up and took the leading role of sweeper and had a stellar performance doing so. The game was very one way traffic for the majority but Sutton lacking on end product with both Jon Goodley and Adam Pack unfortunate not to capitalise early on. With two subs fresh legs where always on the pitch of which brought John Sullivan on for his first game of the season and saw his first touch of the game deflecting the ball into the bottom corner to give Sutton the lead. Sutton kept attacking going into the second half with great work from Harry Braginton and Ian white but again found themselves struggling with end product. Both Suttons and Spalding's defence worked tirelessly to keep the ball out of their 25s and with Spalding looking for the equaliser Smith Munson and Braginton all put a hard shift in to make it happen but was ultimately Slator who kept the points safe and his first clean sheet since he joined us. Game ended 1-0 Sutton it was great to see a turnaround from last week's game, to see the free flowing hockey the third team are quite easily capable of. Potm this week can easily go to one of two people. Jack Smith for an excellent shift in central defence keeping the Spalding's forwards at bay as well as controlling offering support to the attacking play when needed. but ultimately the player that outshone was Albert Slator who pulled off strings of saves at a time to keep his clean sheet and 3 points safe for the third team
