Long Sutton rediscovered the form in front of goal that deserted them the previous week with a resounding home victory. The visitors arrived with a much more experienced team than the hosts but it was the home team that opened the better using their youth and mobility to good effect quickly asking questions of the away defence. Josh Baker moved well and with Gary Hales holding the ball up the Sutton midfield was allowed to push up to assist the attack. Sutton opened the scoring with Baker finishing smartly on his open stick. Sutton soon doubled the lead as Nick Ellis slotted home the first short corner of the day showing the practice of the previous Saturday was of some use!!. Hales added a further two goals before break and Rhys Luck had a number of efforts breaking forward skilfully from right back. The half time interval came with Sutton well in control and showing some good touches, Tyler Hagan continuing his good form of the previous week. The second half opened with the visitors playing with more urgency and purpose trying to get a foothold back in the match, the home defence remained solid with Sam Markillie dropping back to cover unavailability and delivering a cool composed display alongside Dan Oldfield who enjoyed his best game of the season having inherited the ‘big man at the back' role and Josh Ripley who tackled well at left back. Brad Whitmore enjoyed another clean sheet dealing well with whatever Bourne Deeping could throw at him. The home team had chances to add to their lead but had to wait until well into the half before Will Taylor linked well with Will White and added a fifth with a textbook shot across the keeper and in off the far post. The scoring was completed when Ellis and White completed a one two on the top of the circle before the former crashed home his second goal. There was still time for a further tackling masterclass from one of the senior players before the final whistle. Man of the match went to Jacob Synnott with another sound performance. Sutton visit Bourne Deeping fourths on Saturday looking to try and take their home form away.
