Sutton travelled to St Ives as the talcum powder frost dissolved with a full squad knowing that playing against a side who were second in the table everyone needed to be on top form. Fortunately we started the game well and had the majority of the play, The skipper, Dan Oldfield and Tom Burton were careful not to be caught on the counter attack. Will White drifted skilfully into their D to win a short corner which was dispatched by Smith. Controversially St Ives equalised but Sutton were not to be kept down. After half time Will Taylor, Sam Markillie and Jacob Synott started to gain control of the midfield. Sutton were then a man down and it was backs to the wall stuff. Certainly at the back it was like a tide of flannels coming at us. Smith smashed the short corner in to make it 2-1 with 15 minutes to go. St Ives kept coming at us and unfortunately with the very last play of the game we conceded which felt like a loss. The game was played in great spirit. We must thank our travelling spectators again who were moaning it was colder than a cauliflower field in the middle of January.
