With the last game before Christmas against Louth cancelled Sutton seemed eager to start the season in style with two games on the same weekend. the first game saw the thirds hosted Alford both teams looking to start the second half of the season off with a win. As the game started it was clear to see that the thirds hadn't lost anything over the winter break and pressed hard in Alfords 25 with Ian White, Adam Sisson and James Collingwood Smith unfortunate not to capitalise. The half also saw George Neale's first League game for Sutton and put in an impressive shift down the flanks along with McKenzie East James Collingwood Smith and Josh Lambert. Suttons soon gained the lead from captain proctors run along the D and a reverse into the roof of the net with 10 minutes to play of the first half. The second half consisted of the same with hard attacking runs into Alfords half with Ed white and Lewis Shooter excellently distributing the ball around the pitch to get it forward. Suttons chances came again when Ian Whites short corner strike was deflected off a defenders stick away from the keeper and into the goal. Sutton chances kept coming and were unfortunate not to score anything for a long period of time. with 10 minutes left to play unfortunate circumstances found an unmarked Alford forward tap the ball in the goal to give Alford a lifeline. this halted Sutton for a minute as the game themselves time to recompose themselves and with 5 minutes to play soon found themselves playing the pass and move hockey that was getting them a lot of chances and soon Adam Sisson put the game beyond doubt with his own spin on a short corner strike hitting the defenders foot which ended up in the goal. game ended 3-1 another 3 points sees Sutton still fighting in the top 3 of the league with a game in hand with 1 point behind second place Bourne. PoTm this week goes to the new comer to the third team George Neale who played smart effective hockey along the flanks of the pitch assisting in the attacks and getting back when needed to defend Dotd Adam Sisson Not sure why but he probably deserved it
